The MC34FS6408system basis chip (SBC), an NXP® Energy-Efficient solution, provides power to MCUs and offer system loads and optimize energy consumption through DC/DC switching regulators, linear regulators and ultra-low-power saving modes.

  • Advanced functional safety measures.
  • IEC 61508 functional safety metrics available upon demand.
  • Serial peripheral interface (SPI) to allow control and diagnostics with the MCU.
  • Integrates CAN physical interface compliant with the ISO11898-2 and -5 standards along with the latest automotive OEM standards for EMC and ESD.

Key Features

  • Independent safety monitoring unit with fail safe output
  • Secure SPI interface
  • Configurable digital I/Os through SPI registers, including monitoring of FCCU
  • Analog multiplexer sense and monitor supply voltage, for space savings

Energy Management Unit

  • Flexible DC/DC pre-regulator: buck-boost and standard buck
  • DC/DC voltage regulator to supply MCU core up to 1.5 A, from 1.2 V to 3.3 V
  • Multiple wake-up sources in low-power mode: CAN and/or I/Os
  • Linear voltage regulator dedicated to auxiliary loads
  • Linear voltage regulator dedicated to MCU A/D reference voltage or I/Os supply
  • Input supply = 24 V DC

Functional Safety Measures

  • Enhanced safety block associated with fail-safe outputs
  • Designed for ASIL D applications (FMEDA, Safety manual)
  • Secured SPI interface
  • Configurable I/Os for wake-up and safety purposes

Robust Physical Layer
