Team Members in Action

NXP engages with various age groups to spark interest in the industry. We work with primary and middle schools to break down stigmas about technical jobs and showcase the potential of microchips. The MINT Festival from Science Garden was a key event for children aged 6-14 years old. NXP also offers company visits to middle schools, HTLs, and universities, providing young adults with an inside view of their work. The Talent Acquisition Team is active at national and international job fairs, such as Teconomy Graz and FER Zagreb Career Fair. Additionally, NXP participated in the "Girls! TECH UP - Day," introducing girls to opportunities in the technical field.

• Sponsored the 19th China National University Students Smart Car Race.
• Hosted an AIoT Lab science & technology Open Day to women on the National Women’s Day.
• Invited the kids of Shanghai & Tianjin team members to popularize semiconductor knowledge and promote NXP branding.
• Hosted the 2024 Summer Youth Navigation Program, focused on higher education guidance and future career exploration.

Promoted young talent through programs like mint:pink, e-gnition, Engineering at School and “Kids Future Day.”

• Sponsored the Technovation Program, giving girls an opportunity to experiment with programming for social good.
• Partnered with academia (UDG, Tec, ITESO, UTJ, CETI, CINVESTAV) to close the gap between industry requirements and available engineering talent.
• Sponsored the Beautiful Patters workshop for girls between 13 and 17 years old, which was developed by ITESM University and collaboration with MIT. The main objective of the program is to motivate girls to study STEM careers – team members served as guest speakers and attendees enjoyed meals and giveaways.
• NXP Cup events offered participants real-world experiences with autonomous vehicles, using real-world autonomous vehicle software in a competitive setting. This season, the NXP Mexico team specifically focused on simplifying the challenge to allow students to spend more time learning, engaging in fun activities and delivering a great performance.

Hosted the Campus Connect Program, which is designed to provide opportunities to academia through multiple focused tracks of Technical Webinars, Hackathons, Proof-of-Concept solutions to solve contemporary problems by creating partnership between brightest talent at college and experienced industry experts and pave the way forward for seamless transition from Campus to Corporate.

As a new strategy, starting in January 2024, we began collaborating with different engineering colleges for every webinar with the college broadcasting our MS Teams LIVE Webinar in their seminar halls where many students watch it together. These webinars happen on the first and third Tuesday of every month.

• Nurtured young talent and fostering innovation through various initiatives that help students turn their technical visions into exciting start-ups with the help of the Innovation Lab. By actively participating in courses at technical faculties and disseminating the latest technological information, NXP aims to create long-term partnerships and stimulate innovation.
• Participated in major job fairs at renowned technical faculties to discuss the company, internship opportunities, and upcoming events with students. We organize dynamic hackathons to provide current and interesting information about NXP technology and support hackathons organized by technical faculties and student leagues to inspire future generations towards STEM careers.
• Invested time and resources in relationships with pupils and students by holding Open Day sessions to showcase interesting demos, offer useful information, teach about available internships, and guide students on building a CV correctly. We participate in important technical competitions, awarding prizes to winning students, and support RUST workshops to facilitate access to the latest technologies.
• NXP Cup events offered participants real-world experiences with autonomous vehicles, using real-world autonomous vehicle software in a competitive setting. NXP also holds Talent Acquisition workshops at major faculties, recognizing the growing importance of the Rust programming language and creating opportunities for students to stay updated in the fast-changing software landscape.
• Supported university education that fosters innovation, research, and technological advancement. We offer summer schools that complement students' theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies and software. NXP participates in graduation celebrations, supporting higher education and young generations choosing STEM careers.
• Hosted presentations at conferences and scientific communication sessions, support international programming contests for high school or secondary education students, and provide a conducive environment for technology-loving students by modernizing laboratories and relaxing spaces.
• Participated in innovative conferences involving open source, open data, open science, open hardware, and open education. The NXP Eat-Sleep-Code-Repeat project brings together bright minds to learn current technical information at the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest and Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu. Additionally, NXP is involved in important robotics competitions, educating students about autonomous cars and relevant technological advancements.

• Partnered with the maker competition of top-tier STEM universities to develop students' skills for their innovation competency based on NXP solutions, including:
• MakeNTU: a large-scale national Marker + Hacker competition hosted by National Taiwan University. More than 170 talented team members from seven universities participated in the competition.
• AIOT Challenge: the competition was co-hosted by the National Cheng Kung University and the Chang Gung University of Science and Technology. The topic was around the smart factory automation and smart healthcare. Over 280 team members from 29 universities participated in the competition.
• Meichu Hackathon:  the competition was co-hosted by Taiwan Tsing Hua University and Taiwan Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. More than 230 team members participated in the competition, with a focus on creating a sustainable future.
• Partnered with the National Science and Technology Council to host the “Kiss Science Project,” which invited science track sophomores in National Hsin Chuang High School to participate in an Open House event that aimed to stimulate young students' interest in science and technology.

• Operated a STEM team, whose primary goal was to help inspire our young people to have a genuine passion for STEM, our industry and NXP, and to provide guidance, direction, and support to help maximize potential. Collaborating with our University Relations Team, the team developed a ‘Talent Pipeline’ plan to drive activities from primary to secondary school, and on to university, to increase the number of diversity students who could become the next generation of bright minds for our company.
• Supported week-long work placements for local high school students, providing NXP team members as mentors to help the students build a sensor-enabled car.
• Sponsored a number of schools in National STEM Competitions and the F1 in Schools and the Greenpower Electric Car Challenge, providing engineering expertise and funds to travel to competitions across the UK.
• Supported the Girls in STEM Program, inviting four female students to work onsite at our Glasgow site for six months to develop a drone-based competition for local high schools. The “Escape the Jungle!” competition was an unparalleled success. The final event hosted 70 pupils from 11 schools (including a team of pupils from an Additional Support Needs school) who showcased their energy, ingenuity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to rescue hidden LEGO® figures and program drones to fly through a three-dimensional maze.
• Other activities in 2024 include 3D Printing projects in Primary schools, the use of Sphero robots and senor-enabled remote-controlled cars to simulate Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs), continued support for local Careers Fairs, and Innovation Days. We worked with the Royal Institute of Computer Science and UKESF to help inspire the next generation of students in Southampton. As part of our commitment to Giving Back to all communities, the UK STEM team provide plans and support for all these resources via our dedicated UK STEM SharePoint to enable NXP locations worldwide to run these programs locally.

Launched our first high school internship program this year with Ann Richards School for Young Women in Austin. Four high school girls paired with female engineer mentors to learn about their role and pitched a proposal to NXP at the end of their internship week. NXP US looks to continue with this initiative in 2025.

Participated in local community clean-up activities in support of 2024 Earth Day activities.

• Completed a tree planting activity in Beijing and Tianjin .
• Finished the river protection activities, including learning river protection knowledge, river cleaning, garbage sorting, water quality testing in Shenzhen.
• Completed a marine litter collection activity.

Donated time and energy with shelter maintenance and report at Buenos Chicos, a non-profit organization that is helping the Guadalajara metropolitan area with an uncontained problem with stray dogs that exposes them to situations of abuse, violence, diseases, and hunger that endanger their lives. The shelter is a home for the dogs to recover, trust and wait for adoption.

• Participated in local marathons that support several social causes.
• Participated in recycling contests intended to promote recycling and bring knowledge about its importance.
• Participated and helped disadvantaged children at the literacy club by spending time with them, playing games meant to help the children and also giving them books and lots of motivation.
• Participated in the city garbage disposal activity, where the team cleaned a nature area to signal the importance of clean nature and the development of responsible social habits.
• Participated in renovation work at the Counseling and Support Center, which helps victims of human trafficking in Bucharest.
• Participated in planting trees activity to raise awareness about the consumption of natural resources and implicitly greenhouse gas emissions that determine the acceleration of global climate change.

Volunteered to pack meals that were donated to local community organzations to support those in need.

Hosted “She leads, Wisdom seeds,” a female volunteer program that supports the education of underprivileged children by donating refurbished laptops and offering a course to inspire their interest in science and technology.

• The CTO Packaging Innovation and Austin Product Diagnostic and Quality Center FA Lab teams volunteered with Keep Austin Beautiful, cleaning up Lady Bird Lake by kayaking along the trail.
• The Human Resources team volunteered with United Way, focused on landscaping for a recreation center.
• The GSM IT team hosted a volunteer team event, during which Chandler, US-based team members volunteered at ICAN and helped children with STEM-based Spring break camp activities, while Austin US-based team members cleaned up the Hike and Bike Trail with Keep Austin Beautiful.
• Sponsored the American Heart Association in both Chandler and Austin, which included team members from both sites participating in the Heart and Stroke Awareness Walk.
• Focused on providing professional/personal development for team members through community involvement in Austin, hosted three Community Fellows for Social Venture Partners, four professional/personal development workshops on how team members can get involved with the community and what skills they can use or gain doing so. In addition, four team members engaged to learn what it means to serve on a Board of Directors for a nonprofit.
• Supported the Humane Society of Silicon Valley in San Jose to fund their veterinary research scholarship. Team Members cleaned up their dog walking trails to remove harmful trash and items, initiatives that highlight NXP's dedication to community outreach and our efforts to make a positive impact globally.
• Donated $10/hour to NXP team members who volunteer for an activity on the NXP Gives Back platform – the donated funds can be donated by team members to the cause of their choice.
