NXP offers chip customization services, resulting in chip products that are ready to use as shipped. Customers benefit from advanced system security and high cost-efficiencies due to NXP’s secure, ultra-high speed wafer manufacturing processes.

NXP Trust Provisioning Service

NXP provides Trust Provisioning Services along with its NTAG® DNA and ICODE® DNA cryptographic authentication products. The NXP Trust Provisioning Service creates and provisions chip-individual secret keys or secrets, derived from master keys, in Hardware Secure Modules (HSM) in a FIPS 140-2 Level 3 compliant certified environment. These are used in NXP’s secure manufacturing facilities to insert diversified keys and data into individual tag ICs.

If a key exchange is required, it is done with encryption, using a secure communication channel to protect the secret against any attacks or breaches.

NXP Encoding Service

The NXP Encoding Service securely encodes customer-specific tag data at ultra-high speeds during wafer manufacturing. This includes storing of a suitable NDEF (NFC Data Exchange Format) message and configuration of chip features, such as mirroring features.

NXP also offers pre-encoded tag chips as Standard Products. NXP Standard Products suit buyers having no individual requirements on customization, such as dedicated keys or domain names, and integrate seamlessly with NXP Redirection Services.   • NFC Validation and Redirection Service is a tag-management platform, linking uniquely identifiable digitized products to the customer’s own content platform. This Service supports NXP’s baseline NFC products, such as NTAG® 213 and NTAG 210µ. Customers can define bespoke rules based on location, time of the day, tap count and other criteria for powerful control, enabling dynamic content links and notifications of specific events. There is flexibility to use this Service as a redirect system or as backend to an App.

    • This Service can be used with pre-encoded NXP Standard Products; alternatively, customers can select their own domain name and link their DNS entry to the NXP Service.

  • NFC Authentication and Redirection Service is a robust authentication engine with tag-management capabilities, managing cryptographic operations in a secure FIPS 140-2 Level 3 compliant certified environment. Advanced rules are based on authentication, tamper and more, and support detection of unusual tap activities to take corrective action. This Service supports NXP’s secure DNA authentication products (NTAG 4xx DNA and ICODE DNA) – offering SUN Message, Tag and Mutual authentication schemes as well as encrypted communication. There is flexibility to use this Service as a redirect system or as backend to an App.

    • This Service can be used with pre-encoded NXP Standard Products; alternatively, customer can select their own keys and domain name and link their DNS entry to the NXP Service.

  • NFC Standalone Authentication lets customers manage the tags themselves, while relying on NXP for added security. NXP securely manages customer dedicated secret keys and supports cryptographic operations in a secure FIPS 140-2 Level 3 compliant environment. This Service supports NXP’s secure DNA authentication products – offering SUN Message, Tag and Mutual authentication schemes as well as encrypted communication.
