Connected vehicles bring new and better driving experiences with safer rides, smoother traffic flows and optimized energy consumption. However, connected vehicles services need more extensive data transfer capacity through improved network architectures and robust computing infrastructures. AWS IoT Greengrass extends AWS to edge devices to act locally on the data they generate, while still using the cloud for management, analytics and durable storage.
AWS IoT Greengrass collects, consolidates, models and reports telemetry and derived metrics to the cloud and initiates local action based on that data. AWS IoT Greengrass acts as the central control point for in-vehicle software, local machine learning inference and manages the publication of data to the cloud over brittle and intermittent network connections. This architecture forms the basis for building systems using the S32G vehicle network processor that delivers insight into vehicle and driver operations, enabling new business models for OEMs and fleet management.
