The full-bridge DC-DC switch mode power supply reference design is based on V series MCUs and intended to provide the example of power conversion applications. The full-bridge DC-DC converter is a transformer-isolated buck converter. The full-bridge topology contains full-bridge inverter block, transformer, synchronous rectification block, and filter.

  • KV4x: Kinetis KV4x-168 MHz, High Performance Motor / Power Conversion MCUs based on Arm® Cortex®-M4

Features

  • Input and output voltage sensing with under and over voltage protection transformer primary current sensing with over load and short circuit protection.
  • Full-bridge MOSFET driver to driver primary full bridge MOSFETs and half-bridge MOSFET driver for synchronous MOSFET driving.
  • Power supply input voltage input of 20-30 V DC, output voltage 5 V and load up to 8 A.
  • Dynamic/transient load circuit to test digital control loop performance on transient load.
  • Operates over supply voltage range of 4.5 V < VPWR < 36 V
  • Start-up/shut-down control and power sequence logic with KEYSW input
  • MCU supply: VCC is a 5.0 V (±2.0%, 200 mA) regulated supply
  • Sensor supply: VPROT (100 mA) is a VCC tracking protected sensor supply
  • Two configurable pre-drivers for IGBT or general purpose gate MOSFETs for ignition and O2 sensor (HEGO) heater
  • PWM
