About This Video
Studies worldwide show that people are not taking their pills, and for the United States alone, this noncompliance is estimated to cost almost 289 billion USD and causes 125000 deaths per year.
Technology as such will not solve this noncompliance, but with the use of NFC-enabled smartphones and smart blisters, patients get pill reminders according to their prescription. With the NTAG® SmartSensor, it is possible to create a smart blister that monitors the pill taking. Thru the NFC interface, the data is uploaded into the smartphone app. That data can be relayed into the cloud toward caregivers who can follow up and coach patients.
