KW39/38/37 Bluetooth Low-Energy Long-Range Field Tests

Line of Sight field range tests are performed on the NXP KW39/38/37 BLE 5.0 Long Range microcontroller.
Bluetooth 5 Long Range is boosting the operating range. Where the standard 1MB is reaching 900m, the ranging reached in Long Range Bluetooth LE is of 2.3 kms and up to 3.3km for the connection lost. The Long Range feature is more than doubling the transmission distance with the NXP KW38.
KW38 Tx output power is set at +5 dBm. And sensitivity is going up to -105dBm for Long Range S8 mode… so KW38 has a 110dB link budget in Long Range 125kbps! !
