MOVE America 2023 was held recently and NXP joined thousands of people with a shared goal of using technology to transform mobility for the advancement of our world. The two-day event in Austin featured vendors, start-ups and companies in the field of electric mobility. It was an opportunity for solutions providers like NXP to interact with a broad ecosystem of players and provide innovative insights on how to improve mobility for the future.
During the two-day event, NXP showcased key electrification solutions such as the dual traction inverter and 800 V battery management system. Other NXP demonstrations at the event included the smart charger demo and the e-scooter future mobility demo that gathered a fan base at the show.
We also shared a semiconductor’s perspective on the path towards zero emissions in the EV track. The presentation by Brian Carlson, Global Marketing Director of Automotive Processing, had several touchpoints on NXP’s approach. Some areas of focus were our product manufacturing and supply chain, the use of NXP technology in the first and second life of solutions for electrification, shared mobility and alternative energy sources. For the second life, Brian specifically shared an example of the reuse of batteries for energy storage systems and end-of-life in recycling.
Brian’s discussion extended to critical challenges of mass production and how the ecosystem must bring various verticals together including infrastructure and fast charging. He ended his session with some details on the environmental and societal benefits of using less energy and fewer resources.

NXP participated in a panel moderated by Elena Ciccotelli on how our industry can achieve the required growth in the EV market. It was interesting to discuss different perspectives in the panel joined by Angela Strand, Chairwoman at SEA Electric, Nathan Richardson from Austin Energy and Casey Brown, President of Evolve Houston. A key takeaway was that different players, such as technology providers, technology implementors and regulators, must work together to cover the needs of EV users.
We heard the perspectives of attendees from various backgrounds during a round table on how to ensure safety and security in EV bi-directional charging. In the NXP-hosted discussion, there was a spotlight on how standards are helping to ensure system security and safety. It was a great chance to further learn about the concerns of users, solution makers and researchers around data processing. Participants also revealed their desire for more compatibility between different charging stations and car makers.

The 2023 edition of MOVE America provided a chance to meet, interact and experience the mobility ecosystem. It excitingly brought together buyers and sellers across the mobility value chain. The connections made at the event will continue to enable a safe and more secure electrified ecosystem to ensure we transform mobility to advance our world.
MOVE America 2023 may be a little in the past now, however, the insights and memories it created will live on for a while. Until the next edition, there is work to be done towards achieving zero emissions.
