A little over 25 years ago, NXP opened its doors in the Czech Republic. At the outset, we made our mark in Roznov with the opening of a Design and Application Lab. Since then, NXP has also developed two leading edge research centers, in Roznov and nearby Brno. NXP Czech Republic now plays an important role in the company. In August 2020, they celebrated their 25th anniversary, so it’s only fitting that we catch up with the people at the helm as they chronicle NXP Czech’s journey.
“Evolution has been the name of the game for us,” says Human Resources Manager Jana Martinakova, “since the very early days in 1995 when we employed 10 engineers for the Roznov Research and Development (R&D) Center, through the founding of the Global Technical Information Center in 2000 and the launch in 2005 of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Customer Supply Center. Today, NXP Czech Republic also hosts the EMEA Quoting Center, Marketing and Sales Operations, with Processor Expert technology added to the mix in 2009 from our site in Brno, the country’s second-largest university town.”
With our two R&D sites and a growth in numbers targeting 300 specialists, NXP Czech Republic is going from strength to strength as a professional technical, logistic and pricing support organization for many NXP businesses. Where Roznov became known as a research center for cutting-edge technologies in a broad spectrum of applications, Brno is renowned for its focus on software technology.
Bright minds. Bright futures. NXP team members create breakthrough technologies that advance our world. The future starts here.
With approximately 15% of the workforce holding doctorates, this is a magnet for knowledge, as Country Manager Dr. Radim Visinka explains: “NXP here is known as a company where expertise is important, but also our human touch, and we work closely with the technical universities and secondary schools to provide technical classes, support graduate studies and run intern programs that help the students and NXP to achieve our goals.”
So what’s in the pipeline for NXP Czech Republic? For now, we are working to continue our growth, in both Roznov and Brno, and to conclude our project in the Roznov facility where our technical teams and shared services will be brought together under one roof. This will allow us all to benefit from all the knowledge and multidisciplinary expertise available.
“We have a strong presence in the community too,” says Martinakova. “Several project managers organize charity activities and collections in which employees can play an active role in supporting the needy in the Czech Republic. Giving blood, financial collections, volunteer work, making face shields and donating retired notebook computers to schools are just some of the worthy causes we organize.”
A spirit of collaboration and enthusiasm runs deep and strong in NXP Czech Republic, which was part of the plan from the beginning. “We had a vision to create a center where people enjoy working with each other and look forward to the next day in the office,” says Martinakova. “There was always a strong focus on efficiency and deliverables, but this comes with a strong spirit of human support. We have come a long way and learned a great deal: NXP Czech Republic is a great place to work!”
We Are NXP embodies, spirit and values of NXP, which is committed to advancing the world by making it safer and more connected. We pursue our ambitions through technological innovations designed to enhance the quality of life of our employees, our communities and the world at large, all the while ensuring sustainability and minimizing our impact on the environment.
