Note: Please note that submitting your application does not automatically guarantee acceptance into our Startups Program. Each application will undergo a thorough assessment to evaluate potential synergies before any decision is taken.
1
PROPOSAL SUBMISIONThe journey begins with the submission of an application. Startups are invited to provide detailed information about their business, including their value proposition, target market, and stage of development. This can be done through our online application form.
2
INITIAL SCREENINGOur team conducts an initial screening of all applications to ensure they meet the basic criteria of the program. This includes alignment with NXP’s focus sectors (automotive, industrial, smart home, smart city, and healthcare) as well as alignment of our visions. We’ll get back to you within 3 working days of your submission with the outcome of our decision.
3
DISCOVERY CALLIf your proposal passes the initial screening stage, we’ll hold a discovery call with you and other relevant members of your team. This involves a thorough analysis of the startup’s technology, market potential, business model, and team. We also consider the strategic fit with NXP’s business objectives.
4
ALIGNMENTIf our paths converge, we’ll then discuss the scope and benefits of our collaboration through the startup program as well as define the terms of engagement. This includes setting clear milestones and deliverables to ensure a mutually beneficial partnership.

Through the NXP Startup Program, seed-stage startups can access and tap into NXP’s cutting-edge technology and engineering expertise to turn their functional prototype into a minimum viable Product (MVP). Our technical expertise can also help you make design decisions that increase your cost efficiency and help you better manage your financial resources. You can also receive advice on the ways of working in the market you wish to enter, for example who should be your key distribution partners
Through the NXP Startup Program, early-stage startups can access and tap into NXP’s comprehensive portfolio to enhance their product functionality and offerings and stay ahead of the competition. Our technical expertise and tools can also help you optimize your operations, ensuring sustainable growth and scalability. You can also receive advice on the ways of working in new markets or geographies you wish to enter, for example who should be your key distribution partners, and get access to our extensive network to form strategic partnerships.
A Minimum Viable Product (MVP) is the most basic version of your product that can be released to early customers. The goal of an MVP is to test the product idea with minimal resources and gather feedback for further development. Developing a MVP is a step in your startup achieving product-market fit.
Outsourcing MVP development can accelerate startup development by providing access to specialized expertise, reducing costs, and speeding up time-to-market. It allows startups to focus on core business activities while leveraging the skills of experienced developers. The NXP Startup Program is a form of MVP development outsourcing: you receive practical design advice from our engineers and developers to turn your functioning prototype into a minimum viable product. This helps you scale development and bring your innovative ideas to life more efficiently and effectively.
Funding for startups can come from various sources which vary depending on what stage your startup is at. In the pre-seed phase, initial funding typically comes from personal savings, family and friends, crowdfunding and potentially angel investors, incubators and government grants. Seed funding may come from angel investors, incubators and accelerators and venture capital amongst others. Series A funding for early-stage startups typically comes from venture capital and private equity. Each funding source has its own requirements and benefits. Depending on.
Startup mentors, like the ones you'd get access to through the NXP Startup Program, provide founders and their team with guidance, support, and valuable insights from experienced entrepreneurs and industry experts. Mentors can help startups craft a robust business plan to accelerate their growth. This can include advice on navigating challenges such as how to complete a thorough market analysis, how to determine cost structures and set up the operating model of the business or what go-to market strategy to follow, amongst other things.
If the first stages of engagements are successful and it is time to exchange technical details for a thorough assessment, all intellectual property rights will be covered by an NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement). Typically we use the NXP Standard NDA, which comes pre-signed for your review. If you don´t feel content with the covered subjects, there is also the opportunity to make adjustments to satisfy all concerns.
