The module accepts an analog IF signal that contains an 8-VSB modulated ATSC transport stream. After filtering and amplification and fast AGC, the signal is digitized in an ADC and then sent to a VSB demodulator. The demodulated transport stream then sent to a DTV decoder where it is first demultiplexed into the MPEG® video, audio, and other control/data streams.
The MPEG video is then decoded onboard and driven to the output video triple DAC and analog outputs. The audio stream is sent to an audio processor where it is decoded and driven to a stereo audio DAC and analog outputs.
Digital S/PDIF out is also provided for Dolby Digital™ compliance. Overall control and management of the DTV module rests with an onboard system controller which interfaces to the host TV via a serial port.
