The OM15021 pack contains a JN5179 USB Dongle, which can be used as a node in a ZigBee wireless network, typically as a ZigBee Control Bridge, ZigBee Co-ordinator or packet sniffer. The dongle is based on the NXP JN5179 wireless microcontroller. It can be used stand-alone or with the components of the JN517x-DK005 or JN516x-EK004 kit.
Pre-programmed software: The JN5179 USB Dongle supplied in this pack is pre-programmed as an IEEE802.15.4 packet sniffer. It can therefore be used to detect packets in a ZigBee or Thread wireless network. To use this application, you must also install the Ubiqua Protocol Analyzer software on the PC from which the packet sniffing will be conducted. This software can be obtained from the Ubilogix web site (a free trial version is available).
Re-programming: The dongle can be re-programmed with other JN5179 applications by plugging the dongle into a PC and using a JN51xx Flash Programmer utility to download a new application to the Flash memory on the JN5179 device. A suitable utility is the JN51xx Production Flash Programmer (JN-SW-4107).
