The MC92501 is an ATM layer device composed of dedicated high-performance
ingress and egress cell processors combined with UTOPIA Level 2-compliant
physical (PHY) and switch interface ports. The MC92501 is a second generation ATM cell processor in the MC92500 Series.
The ATMC software development board contains all the devices necessary to build an OC-3 line card. The contents include the following:
- ATM Cell Processor for ATM layer functionality (i.e., policing, OAM, statistic gathering, address translation)
- MPC860SAR for embedded control and low bandwidth SARing for in-band signaling
- CAM for VCI/VPI address translation tables (MCM69C232)
- Asynchronous FStatic for context table storage (MCM6226BB)
In addition, the board contains a UTOPIA L2 PHY bus and a UTOPIA switch bus for connecting the development board to other devices. Traffic generators and recorders are included on the board for the initial stages of debug.
