The MPC8266ADS boards are designed to aid hardware and software developers of the PowerQUICC^® II family to provide an evaluation platform for the MPC82xx family. The MPC8266ADS family of boards supports the 82xx family including the MPC8250, MPC8265, and MPC8266.

The MPC8266ADS board has 16MB of SDRAM DIMM (up to 64MB) and an 8MB Program Flash SIMM (up to 32MB). The on-board interfaces include JTAG/COP, Dual UART, 100/10-Base-T Fast Ethernet, and 155 Mbps ATM UNI with optical interface.

Using the ADS on-board resources and an associated debugger, developers are able to download and run code, set breakpoints, display memory and registers, and connect proprietary hardware via the expansion connectors. That code can then be incorporated into a desired system with the MPC82xx processor.

This add-in card supports the PCI functionality of the MPC8250, MPC8265, and MPC8266 in the Target configuration mode. The AI board is plugged into a PCI slot on a PC motherboard.

Who should order this product:
Developers interested in fully testing the PowerQUICC II's PCI capabilities should order the MPC8266ADS-PCI and the MPC8266ADS-PCI-AI. If PCI capabilities are not needed, consider the MPC8266ADS-PCI or the MPC8260ADS-P boards.
