The Electric-Field (E-Field) contact-less sensing system is a reference platform based on Our highly integrated MC33794 electric-field sensor, which generates a low-level electric field and uses feedback to detect the presence of objects. This reference platform also utilizes an 8-bit microcontroller (MC68HC908QB8), the MC33993 for the multiple switch detection interface that drives the LEDs and the MC33886 for the H-bridge motor driver that works in the water pump.
The reference platform consists of two boards - the touch pad board and water level board. These boards are attached to each other to make one demonstration unit. The reference platform shows reliability advantages over traditional mechanical methods that require physical contacts, which can deteriorate due to wear and become less dependable over time. The e-field sensor can detect objects without direct contact. Our e-field technology has been applied in vehicle occupant sensing systems, touch panels and liquid level sensing.
