Energy consumption/generation prediction is a major challenge for power grid operators. The arrival of massive electric vehicle charging demand makes these predictions even more critical to maintain grid stability. Complexity is increasing as renewable energy sources and storage are more often deployed at individual houses, for example, solar and wind generation.
This training will explain and demonstrate how a simple MCU/MPU can run algorithms which analyze the power line to establish very accurate energy consumption and supply predictions. The demonstration is based on a Kinetis KM3x MCU-based power meter, connected to an i.MX RT1060 crossover MCU development board, running a partner neuronal network-based algorithm.
