EdgeLock® SE051H: Secure Element for Matter Onboarding via NFC
The EdgeLock® SE051H Secure Element is a turnkey solution – designed to meet the security requirements of Matter – by supporting the necessary algorithms and cryptographic functions, while enabling the simplicity of device onboarding via NFC. This allows developers to deliver products that are secure yet easy to deploy by delivering a better user experience.
NXP is an active board member of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA). The NXP EdgeLock 2GO service is approved by CSA for issuing the Matter Device Attestation Certificates and offers flexible options for device provisioning. The EdgeLock SE051H secure element, supported by the EdgeLock 2GO service, is an innovative approach that enables peace of mind while simplifying security.

- EdgeLock SE051 security: Dynamic file system, TPM functions, SEMS Lite updateability, extended cryptographic options (RSA, future-proof ECC curves, high-key-length AES)
- Enhanced user experience of Matter device commissioning and easy Wi-Fi pairing
- Contactless late-stage device provisioning and configuration by OEM (no need to power and connect device with cables)
- Full support of cryptography involved in the Matter commissioning process, including SPAKE2+
- Optimized device attestation, performed on chip
- Matter credential generation leveraging NXP Matter Product Attestation Authority and credential pre-injection at NXP or in factory using NXP EdgeLock 2GO services
- Optional (pre-) injection of Matter credentials based on EdgeLock 2GO service

Plug & Trust Software Packages
The EdgeLock SE05x Plug & Trust middleware package offers easy integration with different MCUs and MPUs simplifying design-in and reducing time-to-market.
In addition, the GitHub software packages are derivatives of the full Plug & Trust middleware package for specific use cases. For development purposes still look at the full package as well as it contains large amounts of examples, tools and additional documentation.
- The Plug and Trust middleware mini package is a subset of the Plug & Trust middleware for Linux use
- The Plug and Trust middleware nano package is a minimalistic version of the Plug & Trust middleware optimized for constrained devices. It also provides an integration with Zephyr OS and an example of Qi 1.3 authentication
For Matter-related software, the relevant EdgeLock SE05x software is integrated to the Matter repository
